Acne Preventing Tips

Acne can cause you to feel self-conscious about your skin and it can even be painful if your condition is severe. If you suffer from acne, then there are some things that you should do to make sure that you aren't adding to your reasons for developing a break out. Try following the tips here to help prevent a worse outbreak of acne.

Keep your hair out of your face

When your hair is allowed to fall onto your forehead, it can cause the oils from your hair to get on your skin and lead to a break out of acne. You can either cut your hair so it's off your face, wear it pulled back in a ponytail or wear a hat to control it. If you also tend to get back acne, then you should also be careful to keep your hair from falling onto your back.

Drink a lot of water

Water helps your body to flush out toxins and some of these toxins can help to contribute to the development of acne. This is just one of the many reasons why you should make sure you are drinking enough water each day. A person should consume anywhere from a half an ounce to an ounce of water for every pound they weigh.

Keep your skin clean

Along with being genetically predisposed to acne, and other causes like hormonal changes, dirty skin can be a big cause. When your pores get clogged, it can cause acne to occur. You should make sure you wash your face with a gentle facial cleanser after you work out, before you go to bed, when you wake up and after going out into the heat on a very hot day. Using harsh cleansers can strip your skin of important natural oils, so put effort into purchasing ones specifically designed to be gentle on your skin.

Use a mask

You should also use a facial mask about once a week to help reach in the pores of your skin and remove any clogs that are deep down in there. Look for a mask that cleans while moisturizing your skin. This way, your skin will be left soft once the mask has been removed. Always follow the instructions and don't leave the mask on for too long or it can also lead to dry skin.

If you continue to have problems with acne, then you should see a dermatologist for professional acne treatment.
